PHNOM PENH, (Khmer Times) – The Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital today received a donation of $6100 from the British Embassy in Phnom Penh to mark the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

On June 19, the Embassy of the United Kingdom had a party commemorate its sovereign's birthday.

Not only did the invitees raise their glasses to toast the Queen. but they also, supported by corporate sponsors like Quamtum Clothing and RMA Cambodia, raised money for the hospital. It was a pretty nice thing to do, and a pretty sum also.

Ambassador Bill Longhurst said, “Knowing the funding shortfalls of the hospitals, I am delighted to present this donation, which will go towards the work of Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital, and help to support its work in providing free medical care and treatment to children in Cambodia. I am so grateful that our generous invitees and sponsors chose to mark the celebration by supporting this hospital’s valuable work.”

Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital is the free service hospital for children backed by Dr. Beat Richner and his foundation. It has been scarce of funds since 2013, but many charity events have been organized to generate donations for the support of the hospital.
